Flight to Catania airport. Your Hellene rep will meet you on arrival and accompany you to your accommodation in Acireale via Catania Archaeological Museum, Greco – Romano theatre, duomo and composite archaeological elephantine statue. Evening meal in hotel.
Full day excursion visiting Giardino Naxos, the first Greek Cleruchy on Sicily and then continuing to the idyllically located Taormina. The city once played a prominent role in both Syracusan and Roman politics and had a second renaissance as the backdrop for the Godfather movies. Evening meal in hotel. Overnight in Acireale.
Full day excursion visiting Epipolae to explore the most important fortress to survive the Greek period. Continue to Syracuse, once the most important city in Magna Graecia and home to a magnificent fifth century B.C. Greek theatre, quarries and Roman amphitheatre. Evening meal in the hotel. Overnight in Agrigento.
A full day in Agrigento & Selinunte. In Agrigento visit the ‘Valley of the Temples’ with two virtually intact Doric temples, along with an excellent collection of ceramics in the local museum. Onwards to Selinute, a vast site crammed with well-preserved temples and the Acropolis. Evening meal in the hotel. Overnight in Agrigento.
Transfer to Catania airport via Piazza Armerina, the famous hunting lodge and the ancient town of Morgantina. Return to the UK.
