Hellene Travel is a fully accredited and Assured Member of the School Travel Forum (www.schooltravelforum.com), an Independent Health and Safety Organisation, which externally assesses all aspects of our operation both in the UK and abroad.

The School Travel Forum is a group of leading school tour operators who promote good practice and safety in school travel.  All Assured Members of the STF adhere to a rigorous Code of Practice and Safety Management Standards and are externally verified each year by suitably qualified independent Health and Safety professionals. 

Choosing an STF Assured Member ensures teachers and schools are meeting the requirements of DfES and Scottish Executive guidelines and that they can delegate important tasks with confidence.

During the course of developing the STF Code of Practice, and in addition to liaising with the DfES, advice has been sought from all leading educational Unions and Associations. 

The STF initiative is welcomed by the Outdoor Education Advisors Panel (OEAP) and the DfES.   It has the support of the ASCL, NAHT, ATL, NUT, PAT and the NASUWT advises members wishing to organise school trips to use companies that have this type of scheme.

Hellene Travel is committed to the highest possible standard of Safety for all of its Passengers throughout all Tours - from conception to conclusion.

Hellene Travel ensures that as far as is reasonably possible, all precautions are taken, all training is undertaken and all information disseminated to all personnel to fulfil this promise.

a) Ensuring that our Tours and Services (Hotels, Coaches, Activities) at least comply with, or exceed, Local, National and International Standards – by constantly updating our knowledge base and availing ourselves of external expertise and advice from suitably trained and recognised bodies

b) Providing in depth support to Tour Leaders, in writing and by direct personal contact, of our specialist knowledge

c) Provision of current Risk Assessment Material for every Tour Leader - before booking, before departure and whilst abroad

d) Completion of individual non Hellene Travel Health and Safety Risk Assessment Paperwork as provided by L.E.A. and/or Educational Establishment as requested

e) Accurate Assessment of Suppliers carried out at least once a year, either by Official External Regulators or Senior Company Personnel either in conjunction with Official External Regulators or after suitable training

f) Proactive minimisation of accident occurrence, by annual advance checks, customer feedback, pre Tour dissemination of facts to Party Leaders, post Health and Safety Audits and Tours feedback to suppliers

g) Ensuring, by constant in Tour contact (mobile and text) with Party Leaders, that Senior Hellene Travel Personnel, Staff and Agents respond quickly and efficiently in the event of an emergency

h) Spot checking of all Overseas Services by Senior Hellene Travel Personnel, both during Educational Trips and out of Season. Hotels, Sites and Museums are visited regularly, often accompanying Schools from whom prior permission has been obtained.

i) All Hotel and Transport Inspections are unannounced.

j) The Senior Personnel of Hellene Travel constantly monitor their Safety Management Policy with a view to amendment and updating, both during and after each and every External Audit and School Trip. Action is taken immediately as appropriate.
